studentSN KahveBahane March meeting (translated “Cafe is only an Excuse“)
Under that name “Cafe is only an Excuse” we want to continue to organize offline meetings.
Last Saturday we had invited you to our first meeting in Istanbul. Slightly more than 50 pupils, students, alumni and university employees are our appeal followed.
The first meeting took place in a cafe called “City Brasserie” in Istanbul.

Since pictures speak louder than words, we want to let the pictures speak =)

Our team is named studentSN Ö?renci Gücü (translated: studentSN Student Power). Probably we are the world’s first Internet Startup with a football team. The first two games were completed. The first game we lost with 1:7 and the second game with 5:7.  Maybe we lost the first 2 games but as there are 6 matches more, surely we’ll be better day by the day.  The second game, we even went into a 3-0 lead.

How started “the league” idea?
Four people from different areas who met at social media decided to play football once in week as a social activity.
The whole thing has got around in the social media very quickly. That idea has spread from 4 people to 9 teams league and we have put our own team on their feet.

The results will be exchanged in Social Media (studentSN, blogs, Friendfeed, Facebook, Twitter).

The league is called “SUPERB LEAGUE”.

Wir werden wohl im Februar die Möglichkeit anbieten, Euch auch mit Euren Facebook Accounts – sofern ihr noch keine Mitglieder seit – anzumelden.

Briefly put, you can now send SMS from studentSN to anyone with a cellphone. The service is for now limited to people in Turkey and Germany, but very soon we will open up to the rest of the world as well.

Of course you’re thinking: ‘I have my own phone, why would I go online to send an SMS?’

Well, think of it this way: You’re online, supporting statements and smiling at pretty people, and you suddenly realize that you need to be in class. You decide to tell a friend to sign your name instead, while you stay at home. There’s no need to look for your phone, you just click on SMS in the menu, type the number (if your friend is also on studentSN, or if you’ve already sent them a message, then they’re In your SMS address book already!), type the message, and send it! Presto!

If that isn’t motivation enough, then consider this: sending an SMS from studentSN costs a LOT less than sending from anywhere else, and we don’t have any hidden costs. The SMS can appear to be sent from your own phone number, or from ’studentSN’, and you can chose as many recipients as you want. Still not convinced? In order to send SMS, there’s one more step involved, you need to verify your cellphone number. You can do that from SMS settings, by entering your number, and then typing the confirmation code that we send you. Again, we will not share your phone with anyone, but the law requires us to keep it on record. No users will see your phone number unless you decide to show it to them.
